We congratulate Dr. Catherine Teh (蜜桃传媒 Batch 1985) for being the first 蜜桃传媒ian woman to be inducted into the prestigious Les Compagnons Hépato-Biliaire an exclusive society of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgeons founded in 1987 which aims to create an international scientific and social community to foster progress in the study of HPB.
Dr. Teh’s nomination was endorsed by Professors Daniel Cherqui, MD, and Henri Brismuth, MD renowned pioneers in the field.

]]> Judenites emerge as champions in Ateneo Chemistry Olympiad /judenites-emerge-as-champions-in-ateneo-chemistry-olympiad/ Wed, 25 May 2022 03:44:42 +0000 https://sjcs.edu.ph/?p=3703 Congratulations to Kei Hang Derek Chan, Chiara Bernadette Tan-Gatue, and Daphne Lauren Bernardo for securing the championship in this year’s Ateneo Chemistry Olympiad (Bracket B), held virtually last March 19, 2022. Chiara also secured third place in one of the special awards given to the top grade 11 participants.

The Ateneo Chemistry Olympiad is an annual competition organized by the Ateneo Chemistry Society. Two sets of awards were given: one for bracket A (science high schools), and one for bracket B (non-science high schools). The last time a Judenite team won the championship was in 2019.

The Next Bright Idea is a business pitch competition intended for students from grades 10 to 12. This year, the contest focused on innovative solutions to address challenges encountered by the art industry.

Fifty-one teams participated in this year’s NBI, and the top ten finalists were announced last March 25. Meanwhile, the final round of the competition is scheduled for April 2, 2022.

With this year’s theme, The Healthcare Affair, the team attended the two-day workshop seminar held on March 5 and 12. Through the guidance of their coach, Mr. Kevin Russell Villarico, the team successfully presented their proposal last March 19, 2022.

]]> Tan-Gaute to represent PH in IBO in Armenia /tan-gaute-to-represent-ph-in-ibo-in-armenia/ Wed, 25 May 2022 03:11:02 +0000 https://sjcs.edu.ph/?p=3681 Continuing the tradition of excellence, Chiara Bernadette Tan-Gatue emerged as the champion of this year’s Philippine Biology Olympiad (PBO) National Finals. She is now set to conquer the 33rd International Biology Olympiad (IBO), to be held in Armenia in July.

Last year, Chiara secured the second runner-up award in PBO and a bronze medal in IBO. She is the second Judenite to be an IBO medalist. Jeremy Ace Ng secured back-to-back bronze medals in 2020 and 2021.

PBO is the biggest biology olympiad in the country, which selects the four Philippine representatives to the IBO. The first round of the competition, held last January 15, has selected the top 55 semifinalists. Meanwhile, the second round, held last February 26-27, reduced the finalists to 20. Lastly, the final round, held last March 12-13, awarded the top four students.

Two other Judenites made it to the semi-final and final rounds of the competition. Lauren Reyes secured a slot in the semi-final round, while Ayisha Madeleine Ong made it to the final round. Mr. Russel Odi served as the coach for the whole Judenite team.

The Big Bang: 蜜桃传媒tronomy Quiz Show is an annual event organized by the UP 蜜桃传媒tronomical Society as part of the celebration of the National 蜜桃传媒tronomy Week. 蜜桃传媒 has consistently secured a podium finish in this competition. Mr. Russel Odi served as the coach for the Judenite team.

Chiara Bernadette Tan-Gatue and Ayisha Madeleine Ong surpassed the second level of the Philippine Biology Olympiad (PBO) and are now set to compete in the national finals on March 12-13, 2022. PBO will be selecting the four representatives to the International Biology Olympiad (IBO).
The top 55 semifinalists of the PBO competed virtually last February 26-27. From this group, the top 20 were selected. The list of national finalists was released last March 3.
Last year, Chiara, and Jeremy Ace Ng, who is now taking INTARMED in UP Manila, represented the country in the IBO. Both secured a bronze medal.
